APA will be hosting the third annual Roundup this July 8-10, 2016 at Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Teton National Park! We have reserved two group sites, which can hold up to 115 people. Cost sharing for the weekend is $50 per person (kids 13 and under are free), which covers three nights of camping, Saturday night’s BBQ party, and American Canoe Association event membership and insurance. The Roundup disperses Monday morning, July 11.
The Roundup is a great place to meet and network with other packrafters, learn about access and conservation issues, share and learn some tips and techniques, help our community with service projects, and go packrafting on rivers in and around Grand Teton National Park. Paddling is currently banned on the Gros Ventre River where we will be camping, so it might seem odd not to be able to float from camp as we have in past Roundups. However, the Gros Ventre Campground is a central location for day-trips to numerous fabulous legal packraft trips in the mountains surrounding Jackson Hole. Our time window is ideal for packrafting in this part of the northern Rockies because the rivers are past peak, but still have plenty of water. The Roundup will be a great jumping off point for personal trips afterward in the Absaroka, Gros Ventre, Teton, or Wind River mountains.
